Kansas City Chiefs Acknowledge Alleged Abuse Allegations Connected to Wide Receiver the Athlete
The NFL franchise released a comment on Wednesday evening confirming they are aware of claims of abuse circulated in online accounts by a ex-partner of wide receiver the athlete and were in communication with the league office.
The organization omitted the name of Rice by name in their statement and noted they would have “no further comment at this time”.

The woman, who also did not mention Rice by name, shared a series of photos on Instagram that seemed to depict indicators of bodily harm. Jones did say the person involved was the father of her children, and reports indicate she has kids with Rice, whom the team selected in the second round.
Official Complaints Reportedly Unavailable
No official complaints were on file in Overland Park, Kansas where the alleged abuse is said to have taken place.
Player's Prior Off-Field Troubles
The receiver was absent for the initial part of this NFL campaign due to an league-mandated ban for his involvement in causing a crash on a Dallas highway that resulted in several individuals injured. Rice was given 30 days in jail and five years’ probation after pleading guilty to felony charges.
On the field, he concluded the year with 53 catches for 571 receiving yards and five touchdowns as the Kansas City went with a losing record and missed the playoffs for the first time in a decade.
